Utilized are romantic notions of the mountain, and the accumulation and erosion of matter, as cooperative ingredients. These recent, ongoing works are part of a multifarious body, and are shot in a portion of the Mojave Desert frequented by car, truck, motorcycle, and recreational vehicle. The resulting images are made from two and four hour-long exposures, recording the accretion of moonlight, and the accumulation of light cast from the headlamps of many passing automobiles, each momentarily painting particular hillsides and facades with strokes of light particles. Such ‘marks’ may be mistaken for the amber glow of the setting sun, a technical glitch, or otherwise a conceivably supernatural cause. Utilized are romantic notions of the mountain, and the accumulation and erosion of matter, as cooperative ingredients. These recent, ongoing works are part of a multifarious body, and are shot in a portion of the Mojave Desert frequented by car, truck, motorcycle, and recreational vehicle. The resulting images are made from two and four hour-long exposures, recording the accretion of moonlight, and the accumulation of light cast from the headlamps of many passing automobiles, each momentarily painting particular hillsides and facades with strokes of light particles. Such ‘marks’ may be mistaken for the amber glow of the setting sun, a technical glitch, or otherwise a conceivably supernatural cause. These recent, ongoing works are part of a multifarious body, and are shot in a portion of the Mojave Desert frequented by car, truck, motorcycle, and recreational vehicle. The resulting images are made from two and four hour-long exposures, recording the accretion of moonlight, and the accumulation of light cast from the headlamps of many passing automobiles, each momentarily painting particular hillsides and facades with strokes of light particles. Such ‘marks’ may be mistaken for the amber glow of the setting sun, a technical glitch, or otherwise a conceivably supernatural cause. Utilized are romantic notions of the mountain, and the accumulation and erosion of matter, as cooperative ingredients. These recent, ongoing works are part of a multifarious body, and are shot in a portion of the Mojave Desert frequented by car, truck, motorcycle, and recreational vehicle. The resulting images are made from two and four hour-long exposures, recording the accretion of moonlight, and the accumulation of light cast from the headlamps of many passing automobiles, each momentarily painting particular hillsides and facades with strokes of light particles. Such ‘marks’ may be mistaken for the amber glow of the setting sun, a technical glitch, or otherwise a conceivably supernatural cause. All images are made in and around a specific thoroughfare advanced by the now waning, but still deliberate, metallurgical industry, initially connecting both sides of the Mojave, in service of goods
